Jalin and Netzme Support DKI Jakarta’s PPKUKM Office in Promoting the Digitalization of MSMEs through the Cashless Society Acceleration Program

JAKARTA, July 25, 2023 – PT Jalin Pembayaran Nusantara (Jalin) is supporting the efforts of the DKI (Special Capital Region) Jakarta’s Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Office that collaborates with PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia (Netzme) to promote the digitalization of MSMEs through the execution of the Cashless Society Acceleration Program via MSME Digital Literacy at the Ballroom of Hotel Holiday Inn Gajah Mada, Jakarta (25/07).

Director of Jalin, Eko Dedi Rukminto, explained that they are continuously supporting the expansion of the public’s financial digital literacy through various collaborative programs with Jalin service members, including Netzme, in line with the growing use of digital payments, particularly the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), in Indonesia.  QRIS is one of the payment services provided by Jalin on behalf of banking and fintech institutions in order to facilitate community transaction activities.

"We are enthusiastic about supporting the efforts of DKI Jakarta’s PPKUKM Office and Netzme in enhancing the understanding of MSMEs regarding the importance of digitalization in advancing their businesses. This is partly achieved through optimizing the use of digital payment tools like QRIS, which has proven to bring numerous benefits to businesses. These include automated transaction recording and reporting systems, support for service expansion, and better ease of transaction and security for both merchants and customers," said Eko on the same occasion.

The training was attended by 500 participants, consisting of Jakpreneur MSMEs mentors and state civil apparatuses from DKI Jakarta’s PPKUKM Office. Its aim was to provide a fundamental understanding of MSME digitalization, regulations, as well as evaluation of Jakpreneur QRIS  performance. This equips the participants with the knowledge to effectively disseminate these skills to MSMEs under their guidance.

Also in attendance were the Head of DKI Jakarta’s PPKUKM Office Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, Licensing and Payment System Policy Implementation Division of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for DKI Jakarta Province Hery Afrianto, and CEO of PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia Vicky Ganda Saputra.

CEO of PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia, Vicky Ganda Saputra, emphasized that the digitalization of MSMEs wouldn't be possible without synergy and collaboration.  In that regard, Netzme is greatly appreciative of the presence of the DKI Jakarta’s PPKUKM Office, Jakpreneur, and all parties committed to advancing MSMEs. "MSMEs are a vital unit in Indonesia's economic growth. Due to the crucial role they play, the development of MSMEs must always be monitored and guided. One way to realize this is through digitalization," explained Vicky.

Meanwhile, the Head of DKI Jakarta’s PPKUKM Office, Ratu Rante Allo, revealed that the digitalization of MSMEs is the initial step in guiding Indonesian MSMEs to compete in the global market. "In addition, the digitalization of MSMEs also assists the PPKUKM Office in digitalizing the data system, enabling it to determine effective steps in MSME development. With this dissemination campaign, we hope to understand and shift our mindset for the better," continued Ratu.

In line with Ratu, Eko explained that Bank Indonesia (BI) is currently expanding the use of cross-border QRIS payment, enabling convenient transactions in several countries, especially those with potential in the tourism sector. In addition to Thailand and Malaysia, BI is also exploring collaborations with Singapore and the Philippines.

"This innovation presents a significant opportunity for owners of businesses like MSMEs to expand their market reach internationally, allowing them to also serve QR-based tourist payment transactions. In support of BI's program and in line with the growth of QRIS, Jalin is continuously enhancing the infrastructure capabilities of QRIS, not only to support cross-border transactions but also new features like TTS (Cash Withdrawal, Transfer, Cash Deposit) that facilitate users in withdrawing and depositing cash by simply scanning the QRIS code through a merchant," added Eko.

As additional information, Jalin has experienced significant growth in QRIS transactions in the first half of 2023, processing over 60 million transactions by June 2023. It is predicted that Jalin will be able to facilitate payment transactions totaling more than 1 billion by the end of 2023, including the potential sixfold increase in QRIS transactions with an estimated total of over 660 million transactions compared to 2022.

"The substantial growth in QRIS transactions in the first semester of 2023 signals a positive trend that the performance of both Jalin and its members are continuously improving. This includes Netzme, which stands as one of the largest contributors to Jalin's QRIS transactions. Jalin continues to promote more widespread use of QRIS within the community and consistently supports Bank Indonesia's program to accelerate the digital payment system in the country with fast, convenient, cost-effective, secure, and reliable QRIS," continued Eko.

In addition to organizing collaborative programs with members, Jalin is also committed to playing a role in accelerating the growth of the digital economy in the MSME sector by promoting the acceptance of QRIS usage through education and communication on the digital channels owned by the Company. "Our hope is that Jalin can continue to play an active role in facilitating all payment transactions through QRIS, and support the acceleration of a cashless society to establish national payment efficiency," concluded Eko.
