Zipay and Jalin Collaborate to Expand Digital Payment Access for MSMEs in Indonesia

Jakarta – PT Max Interactives Technologies (“Zipay”) has officially joined the “Link” switching network managed by PT Jalin Pembayaran Nusantara (“Jalin”), a subsidiary of the state-owned enterprise holding company Danareksa and a leading digital payment transaction processing company in Indonesia.

This collaboration aims to accelerate financial inclusion by providing secure, reliable, and efficient Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS)-based digital payment services for Zipay's merchant partners within the microfinance and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) ecosystem.

As of June 2024, QRIS users have reached 50 million, with over 32 million merchants accepting QRIS as a payment method. This growth reflects the trust and reliance of MSMEs on digital payment systems, indicating an increasing number of MSMEs using QRIS. Bank Indonesia targets QRIS users to reach 55 million by the end of 2024.

Director of Commercial Jalin, Eko Dedi Rukmito, emphasized the role of QRIS in supporting the digital transformation of MSMEs. "The current challenge for MSME business operators is primarily in managing their finances. By using QRIS features and services, MSMEs can manage their revenues in real-time, resulting in more accurate and organized financial management," said Eko.

Chief Business Officer of Zipay, Aidil Akbar Madjid, stated that this collaboration will significantly impact Zipay's partners within the microfinance and MSMEs ecosystem. "With wider acceptance and more reliable technology, we believe Zipay partners can enhance their operational efficiency and effectiveness. QRIS will be a crucial payment method to strengthen Zipay partners' competitiveness in the digital market and unlock the potential for increased transactions within a broader reach," he added.

With the robust payment system infrastructure support from Jalin, it is expected that MSMEs and microfinance institutions partnering with Zipay will benefit from broader interconnectivity and interoperability. Through increased adoption of digital payment transactions by the public, the transition from cash to digital transactions is anticipated to proceed more swiftly and efficiently. "This collaboration not only strengthens the digital payment ecosystem in Indonesia but also provides opportunities for MSMEs to grow and thrive in an increasingly competitive digital economy," concluded Eko.
